This project challenges us to design a non denominational church for Suny Farmingdale. The design must not designate any type of religion, so the use of symbols like crosses or stars are not permitted. Suny Farmingdale has requested that this new building be a "profoundly spiritual" place. By manipulating light as it hits the building, a dramatic scene can be created in the inner sanctums. Using contextual analysis on the campus's existing buildings a location will be determined, then by analyzing the path of the sun, light machines and functional light manipulators will be constructed to create the natural light effects made famous by so many worshiping spaces before.
